Meet the Team

Sam Eichman
Childcare Center Director

Sam has been with the ANEW Childcare Center since Spring 2025, bringing over 25 years of experience in Early Childhood Education. Her mission is to create a nurturing, inclusive, and developmentally rich learning environment where every child feels safe, valued, seen, and inspired to grow. She leads with empathy, integrity, and vision, empowering educators, supporting families, and fostering a community rooted in respect, curiosity, and lifelong learning.

A strong advocate for best practices in early childhood education, she is dedicated to ensuring each child’s experience begins with a solid foundation for future learning success. She considers it an honor to be part of such an inspiring team of women who uplift and empower one another. Being part of the story of the children and families served by ANEW is, to her, a true gift.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. Together, they love exploring the outdoors through camping, hiking, and fishing.

  • Lead Infants Teacher

Alexis has been teaching for over ten years with experience in both Minnesota and Portland, Oregon. She is passionate about nurturing young minds during their earliest stages of development. Alexis absolutely loves what she does and is currently furthering her education to become a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC), which is work she is extremely passionate about!

When Alexis is not in the classroom, you’ll find her spending quality time with family and friends, traveling to new places, building with LEGOs, or working through any kind of puzzle!

  • Lead Ones Teacher

Rissa has been working in early childhood education for the last six years and is currently working towards her CDA. Prior to her time in childcare, Rissa spent a number of years working in various settings, but once she stepped into a classroom, she found her true passion!

As a teacher, there's no greater feeling than having a Little reach their next milestone. Rissa never shies away from messy sensory activities, LOVES reading various books to help expand the child's growing vocabulary, and always strives to bring love and comfort into the classroom.

When Rissa is not working with children, you can find her enjoying some beautiful Minnesota scenery or relaxing at home with her cats!

  • Lead Twos & Preschool Teacher

Hannah has been working professionally in childcare since 2020 but has been watching & tending to kiddos her whole life. Hannah comes from a big family and has always had a passion with working and helping little ones grow, thrive, and start to find their way in this crazy, big world. She is currently in the process of getting her CDA and is so excited to welcome you & your little one to her class with open arms!

When Hannah is not in the classroom, she spends her free time with her family, hiking or curling up with a fuzzy blanket & a good book.

  • Infants Teacher's Aide

Melaina is committed to creating a safe, loving, and engaging space where each baby can thrive. She assists the lead teacher in implementing daily activities, providing personalized care, and fostering early learning through play and exploration. Her goal is to support each child's unique development and build a strong foundation for future success.

Melaina is currently furthering her education at Saint Paul college on the biology pathway. When she is not in the classroom, you can find her walking around the city trying new restaurants or probably reading a book!

Miranda has been working in the childcare field since 2021 and is currently pursuing a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential to further enhance her skills and expertise. She is passionate about building connections with children, discovering their unique personalities, and supporting their growth and development.

Katy grew up in central Illinois and now calls St. Paul home. She has tried a few different career paths, but after working with all the unique kiddos at ANEW, she has not only found her passion, but has found where she belongs. She has worked in childcare for over a year and is completing her CDA certification.

Katy is dedicated to fostering a nurturing, play-based, and child-led approach to learning. She creates engaging experiences through sensory play, storytelling, and arts and crafts, helping children explore the world with curiosity and joy. In her free time, Katy enjoys spending time with her three cats, dog, and significant other, as well as reading, creating art, and making her own clothes and jewelry.

  • Assistant Teacher & Float

Alma has been working in childcare since 2019 and is currently pursuing her Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.

Her passion for caring for children began at a young age, when she helped take care of her younger brother. From that moment, Alma knew that childcare was her calling. She loves bringing smiles to little faces, ensuring each child feels cared for, and helping them learn something new every day.

When she’s not working, Alma enjoys spending time with her family, especially creating special memories with her own little one.
